N.O.Z.W. 2006. Four directional lines of the compass rose formed a temporary, directional cross in a church. Where these lines finally meet national territorial borders, I photographed a person walking across these borders: from the Netherlands to the sea in the north, to Germany in the east, to Belgium in the south, to the sea again in western direction. Photograph of the walking person is presented in combination with an aerial photograph showing the exact coordinates of that specific moment. The photograph were presented where the lines ‘left’ the church-building. Human skin, architectural skin, national borders are real membranes where exchange is crucial.
